TeleHealth and The Therapist

TeleHealth and The Therapist

This short video is a parody of what many of us therapists experience while providing online sessions commonly known as “Virtual Therapy, TeleHealth, or Online Therapy.” For some reason, for a large number of us, we find that providing online sessions is much more draining than face-to-face sessions. Perhaps it is because we are providing therapy in the midst of a pandemic that affects us directly, or because many of us have children and we must coordinate child care, distance schooling, house cleaning, meals, plus our work, or because it is simply more tiring to look at a computer for a long time. Whatever the reason is — which could be and excellent research topic, many therapists we feel at times depleted and exhausted for looking at a laptop for long period of times, and we miss our in -person sessions.

This humorous video is not representative of the professionalism with which we therapists provide services to our patients, nor does this video attempt to create a statement in relation to the experience with TeleHealth from all therapists. This is simple a hilarious exaggeration of the effects of providing virtual sessions in the midst of a pandemic.
