Next generation air-traffic management system "DREAMS"

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has presented a future vision, Global Air Traffic Management Operational Concept,” which would create a flight operation system using new technologies by 2030 when air traffic volume is expected to double from its current level. In Japan, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and other organizations have implemented the CARATS. JAXA inaugurated the DREAMS in coordination with CARATS with the objective of establishing technologies to improve the air traffic management system of the future.
New technologies will include: (1) Weather information technology (2) Noise abatement technology (3) High-accuracy satellite navigation technology (4) Trajectory control technology and (5) Disaster-relief and small aircraft operation technology.
