Hands-on chemistry activities to do at home, in classrooms, libraries…
Mixtures–
Acids and bases:
4 Tbsp – Vinegar
2 Tsp – Baking soda
1 Tums Tablet (or equivalent)
4 Tbsp – Vinegar
1 Orange (or orange juice, lemons, limes…)
2 Tsp – Baking soda
5 Tbsp – Oil
1 Tbsp – Water
1 Alka Seltzer Tablet
Catalyst:
2 Tbsp – Hydrogen peroxide (I used 3%, but the higher you use the better the reaction and the more safe you should be when using is)
2 Tsp – Yeast
2 Tsp – Soap (add last)
Non-Newtonian Fluid:
Ooblek (these are basic amounts you may need to add cornstarch if too runny and water if to solid):
4 Tsp – Cornstarch
2.5 Tsp – Water
Other supplies:
Trash bags, paper towels, aluminum trays, condiment containers (or cups), spoons, measuring spoons, food coloring
