Digestion is the breakdown of large insoluble food molecules into small water-soluble food molecules so that they can be absorbed into the watery blood plasma.

The term mechanical digestion refers to the physical breakdown of large pieces of food into smaller pieces which can subsequently be accessed by digestive enzymes. In chemical digestion, enzymes break down food into the small molecules the body can use.

The process of digestion begins in the mouth cavity and ends in the anus and has six steps, which are as follows:
1. Ingestion
2. Secretion
3. Mixing and movement
4. Digestion
5. Absorption
6. Excretion

Components of the Human Digestive System
1. Mouth & Buccal Cavity
2. Pharynx
3. Oesophagus (or) Esophagus
4. Stomach
5. Small Intestine
6. Large Intestine

In this class, Dr Sachin Sir introduces future doctors to Mouth and Oral Cavity.
