Control and Coordination: CBSE Class 10 X Science (Biology)
The nervous system helps in controlling and coordinating various activities of the human body. The three types of nerves, cranial nerves, spinal nerves and visceral nerves run through the body and help in sending and receiving messages in the form of electrical impulses.

Hello students, we are going to study the topic named as Control and Coordination from class 10 Science.

When learning about the control and coordination in animals and humans, we have to take a look at the nervous system and the hormonal system and understand their respective functions.

The central nervous system

Any understanding of the control and coordination will be incomplete without the understanding of the CNS or the Central Nervous System. The brain and the spinal cord together form the CNS. All the electrical impulses are interpreted in the brain which then prompts actions. The human brain is divided mainly into three parts, depending on the type of function they perform.

What is a reflex action?

The sudden and automatic response that we have to an external stimulus is known as a reflex action. For example, our immediate moving away from the hand when we touch something too hot is a reflex action.
