Chemistry of Life, Cell Structure, & Function | Live Review Session 1 | AP Biology

In this AP Daily: Live Review session for AP Biology, we will review the properties of water and how changes in macromolecule structure and lead to changes in function.

We’ll highlight two topics in Unit 1: Chemistry of Life. We will review Topic 1.1, addressing how the properties of water result from polarity and hydrogen bonding and describing characteristics of a biological concept. Topic 1.5 review addresses how changes in the subunits of a polymer may lead to changes in structure and function of a macromolecule and predicting the effects of a change in a component of biological system. We will also highlight four topics in Unit 2: Cell Structure and Function. We will review Topic 2.2, addressing how living systems are organized in a hierarchy and making a scientific claim. The video will also look at Topic 2.3 and the complex organization of living systems that requires constant input of energy and the exchange of macromolecules. While looking at that content, we will review how to represent relationships within biological models. The session covers Topic 2.8 and address why cells have membranes that allow them to establish and maintain internal environments that are different from their external environments. Within that context, we review how to construct a graph, plot, or chart. We study Topic 2.9, which covers the processes that allow ions and other molecules to move across membranes. We will review how to explain biological concepts and processes during our discussion of this topic.
