Hydrocarbons are the important sources of energy. a hydrocarbon is an organic compound consisting entirely of hydrogen and carbon. Hydrocarbons are examples of group 14 hydrides. Hydrocarbons from which one hydrogen atom has been removed are functional groups called hydrocarbyls. Hydrocarbons are of different types. Depending upon the types of carbon-carbon bonds present,
they can be classified into three main categories – (i) saturated Hydrocarbons are the important sources of energy.
(ii) unsaturated and (iii) aromatic hydrocarbons
