Session 5- Translanguaging in teaching and learning Dr. Sue Ollerhead



Translanguaging is the process of making meaning, gaining understanding and knowledge through all of the languages that we know. In this workshop, Sue will explore the rationale for using translanguaging as a pedagogical approach and present some key classroom translanguaging strategies to create effective and engaging learning experiences for multilingual students.

Dr Sue Ollerhead is a lecturer in Languages and Literacy Education at Macquarie University. She has worked extensively as a teacher, teacher trainer and researcher in South Africa, Egypt, the United Kingdom and Australia. She is co-editor of the book Plurilingualism in Teaching and Learning: Complexities across Contexts (2018).
