Numericals Part 1: NCERT Questions

Question 1. An object has moved through a distance. Can it have zero displacement? If yes, . your answer with an example.

Question 2. A farmer moves along the boundary of a square field of side 10 m in 40 s. What will be the magnitude of displacement of the farmer at the end of 2 minutes 20 seconds from his initial position?

Rounds covered in 40 s =
Rounds covered in 140 s = 140 x 1 / 40 = 3.5
i.e 3 full rounds and 1 half round
In the 3 full rounds displacement = 0
As initial and final position are same
But in next half round displacement will be
(AC)2 = (AD)2 + (DC)2
(AC)2 = (10)2 + (10)2
(AC)2 = 100 + 100
(AC)2 = 200
AC = √200
AC = 14.143 m
