There have been attempts on the life of environmental activists, Judi Bari from Earth First being the most prominent, but others from other organizations have been attacked, including from the Greens. I agree with the assessment from Bari herself that it probably was FBI intelligence responsible; there were similar incidents involving the Weathermen in the early 1970s in which they were blown up following earlier planting of bombs. The FBI and other intelligence organizations are always careful to cover their tracks so to have deniability for such covert violence. Usually, however, what people encounter are hostility and thuggishness rather than… Read more »

I had hoped that the high water to land area ratio would have forestalled the heating here. Nope.

The insanity on the Right is obvious for all to see, and is encapsulated in this Bozonaroa story, and in many of the comments . However, the insanity is also gripping the Left, and I don't mean just the corporate Left. I find it hardgoing talking to some people about the environment and I get the behaviour of the Green Party (of England & Wales) used against me. It is difficult to argue against that – latest example is a suggestion from their leader, Caroline Lucas MP. Her biggest concern is (and this is way above polar ice and insect… Read more »

In this country (US), killing them isn't required. Reports are just altered, or not published. Scientists quit and no one cares. Department headquarters are moved states away in a few weeks; forcing many to quit. A million women march in Washington DC and I bet very few people can even say what they were there for. Web sites are scrubbed of climate change data; nary an eyebrow is raised. States have rules forbidding their employees to speak of climate change; and we go 'ho hum'. Police have been killing people of color for decades, even on video, and nothing changes.… Read more »

The Despair is Completely Lost on Me…
Humanity has been of a bit of a scourge & virus to this globe for some time now.
Admittedly I was always on Nature’s side for most things… Then around 2006 when I saw this Freight Train heading for Us, I got this warm fuzzy feeling….
& Took Comfort in knowing the End is Near for man.
Hopefully Nature holds off on the next incarnation that’s too smart for it’s own good.

I think he was fired because Germany and I think Sweden are planning to not give the money they have been giving to help protect the Amazon. Bolsanaro wants to cut the Amazon and get the money for not cutting it at the same time.

Perhaps as things start crumble we can be kinder and care to each other. After World War One the poets, writers and other artist believe mechanized warfare doomed us.

Hi BB. Good to hear you are going to 'keep on moving/don't stop' as the song suggests (soul to soul circa 1980s). Last time I watched you the studio looked more like a broom cupboard. I'm wondering if it still is but you are just hiding a new refrigeration unit behind the pictures? It's kinda feeling like we need that even in the UK. In fact, Greenland is seeing temperatures of 21-degree Celcius. That has got me a bit more scared than usual. And in reference to the Amazon. I think as soon as trump and his rep cronies are… Read more »

The problem is that they have all the guns. Non violent protest is one of the better alternatives. The corporations and the government have a hard time dealing with non violence. Eventually, corporations will lose their status as People and be made illegal. Rich guys will have to pay 80% taxes. Corporations like Johnsons baby powder that have been fined millions in the courts, still make poisonous baby powder. These guys belong in Jail.

But that’s what Kunstler meant by “The Long Emergency”. However, put peak oil, NTHE, and Limits to growth in one pile and we stare at 2030 ish as an end, not an “oh it’s too late”. The Lion In Winter” When the fall is all there is, how you fall matters.”

Just posted another YouTube video on the tree die off here in wisconsin. Things have gotten worse. Folks used to get a tree cutter out to fell dead trees on their property. Now most folks just leave them stand to rot.

Mental health at the heart of the climate crisis
by Dan McDougall

Greenland’s melting has been adopted by the world as its own problem. We understand the ice more than the people. But for the islanders grieving their dissolving world, the crisis is personal, and dangerous

Of course we're not all gonna die overnight in a collapse scenario. That is why youu should prep. If i'm gonna spend my last weeks or months alive i would rather not be hungry, thirsty and fighting desperate people for scraps.

Wildfires in Brazil are bigger then ever at the moment. Makes you wonder how much of that is intentional under Bolsonaro doesn't it? I'll bet plenty of idiots feel free to burn down forest for cattle, soy, palm oil etc….

At around 3:00 or 3:30 or so, you talk about how The End might not come very abruptly, but could play out over years, perhaps many years, with the situation gradually getting worse over time. There is a book about this, I read it a few years ago. It is science fiction, but mostly it tries to be pretty realistic. The ending made my skin crawl, I really didn't like the ending at all, but I have a lot of respect for what the author tried to do in the first ninety percent of the book. He gradually walks the… Read more »

I happen to be one of those who think were cooked. Not because we can change, but because we, as a whole, will not. It's an age old cycle of life. A cycle that most humans believe we're beyond due to the notion that we believe that we're the most intelligent species on this planet. The cycle of natural selection will continue despite what we believe or think. Fast forward: In about 7.6 billion years from now, it has been theorized that the sun will reach its maximum size as a red giant: its surface will extend beyond Earth's orbit.… Read more »

BAU ,,,,, it's NOT just weather or climate. It's 16 things all coming to a head. We are ducked 7 ways to Sunday. On a singular level we could all pitch in and save 10 or 15% ghg's. Big deal. It's industry or big players using the rear of the factory for a dump or the sky. Bozo-n is Rump on steroids ,, a true monster. Food and water.
